NOTE
I've created, for a fanfiction I wrote, several Hetalia OC of the states of the medieval Russia, which I imagined as parents, uncles and aunts of the three slavic brothers.
In this vision, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus are still siblings, they still consider themselves brother and sisters, but they have each a different parent (Principality of Muscovy for Russia, Principality of Kiev for Ukraine, Principality of Polotsk, for Belarus)
PLEASE don't bash if you don't like, as I said is just an hetalian version of history, that you can like or not

Thoughts of a mother in the wind of a grey day...
Muscovy raised little Russia in a very hard world: with his uncle, Kievan Rus (Ukraine's father), killed by Golden Horde and all the eastern slavs under the iron fist of Mongols, with his sisters divided between Golden Horde and Lithuania and Poland, with a young Teutonic Order (future Prussia) trying to conquer and convert them all...
Hopefully, young Ivan will be able to withstand all this hard challenges, but...
With Russia getting stronger, growing and growing, further more than she, than anyone, coul ever imagine, she starts to think about his destiny. And to remember the smile his son had since when he was still little.
She's wondering if his son, in a world so difficult, and yet with that unexpected glory he's raising, will be able to preserve the innocence in his smile...
Sadly, we know how it ended...

Well, I sure don't blame Muscovy for worrying over how her son will turn out- ouch.
It reminds me of one episode where Italy sees himself as a child, and the latter asks if he'll be better when he's grown up. Adult Italy's reaction is rather flustered XP I think Russia should get a similar scene.
